Lemon, Ginger and Cayenne Kick Start
We have all heard that drinking hot water and lemon is good first thing but this recipe takes it to the next level. Every morning is kicked off with one of these for me – and for good reason. The perfect way to kick start cleanse or detox at this time of the year, this potion is a surefire way to get the liver, digestion and metabolism moving – which is vital for skin, immunity, hormones and many other systems.
In Ayurvedic medicine, encouraging warmth in the body is vital first thing and this concoction of cayenne and ginger have long been heralded as the perfect wake up juice.
Whether you are doing some sort of January cleanse, or just want to combat bloating, bad skin and support detox then I can’t recommend a cup of this enough to kick start the body in the morning.
- 1 wedge of fresh lemon (squeeze to get juice out) or more if you want it
- Pinch ground Cayenne pepper -get organic good quality stuff if you can
- 1 cm of fresh ginger – ideally chopped or grated. I find easiest way is to use a peeler to get fine flakes of ginger
Add all ingredients to your mug, add hot water (ideally let it rest for 30 seconds after boiling before pouring) stew for 1-2 minutes and then feel the warmth.
Feeling Strong – Add 1 tsp apple cider vinegar for extra digestive and skin support, and to promote alkalinity (yes, it is actually alkaline once absorbed into the body)
Feeling Sensitive – Add 1 tsp of manuka honey
